Some Kickstarter projects succeed, and a lot fail. But some projects are so ahead of their time – or they have the potential to help so many people – that they’re bound for success. Fixd (yes, that’s spelled properly), is one of those great stories.

And you’ve probably heard a lot of hype about Fixd, too.

Innovative and much-needed, this technology helps make diagnosing that pesky check engine light a little easier.

But before I get too ahead of myself, let’s talk a little bit more about Fixd.

What is Fixd?

MOBILE APP

Communicates with the FIXD Sensor to help you understand your car.

SENSOR

Plugs into you car and sends information to the FIXD App.

EASY SETUP

Connect wirelessly the sensor to your phone and it will automatically pair to the FIXD sensor.

IMPRESSIVELY INTUITIVE

You will be able to start understanding your vehicle immediately. No need for tech knowledge.

MULTI VEHICLE CONTROL

The FIXD App allows you to see the health and status of every car in the family from your app.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

You can count with and excellent customer service and online support at any given moment.

If you’re reading this, you probably know about the Fixd car diagnostic device. Fixd is aimed at helping you make sense of your check engine light. I’ll explain how it works shortly in this Fixd review, but the key thing to know is that Fixd is essentially a code reader on steroids.

How Does Fixd Work?

Fixd will attach to the plug that is meant for an OBD-II reader. This is a plug-and-play device, and it’s so simple to setup and get started. What Fixd does is read the codes that your check engine  light is putting into your vehicle’s computer.

Now, what if you have an older vehicle? Will Fixd work on every device?

Nope.

Fixd will work on:

  • Vehicles manufactured after 1996
  • Vehicles that run on gas or are hybrids

If you have an earlier vehicle or a vehicle that is diesel, this is not a product for you. You see, the OBD-II standard was implemented for all vehicles in the U.S. that were introduced to the market after 1996.

Don’t fall for any readers that state they work on every vehicle – it’s a fallacy.

These codes are the same codes that your mechanic will read on their expensive computer systems. But you see, normal code readers display a simple error code. This code is then researched online (for the DIYer like myself), and then you need to compare them for your auto.

It’s a lot of work, and it gets confusing really quickly, too.

Fixd makes it easy to understand why your check engine light it being displayed. The unit that connects to your auto will transmit the error code and a description of the problem to the accompanying app.

Fixd itself is just the code reader, and I leave it in my vehicle because it only requires a very little amount of battery to run.

The test for this Fixd review showed that, when my vehicle has a check engine light pop up, I know what my car is trying to tell me because:

  • My Fixd app displays the problems and their description.
  • Each alert has a unique color based on severity.

I’m a little crazy when it comes to my car. I get very bad anxiety  when a check engine light – or any light, really – pops up on my dashboard. I need to know what’s wrong, and it’s hard to trust mechanics that are often looking at the problem with their own best interests in mind.

Fixd will send a notification to your phone if there’s a problem, along with:

  • Consequences of continuing to drive with the problem.
  • When stopping is recommended so that you don’t damage your vehicle.
  • Cost estimates for fixing the problem (when possible).

What a lot of people, including myself, didn’t know is that the app will also allow you to monitor your maintenance needs and click off maintenance tasks as you go.

Maintenance is recommended via the app. It’s possible to export all of this vehicle history for your records, or to show a potential buyer that you’ve taken great care of your auto.

I was ecstatic when I started up the app, and it even told me if I was good to go.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that all of this occurs with wireless syncing, so there are no wires when setting up Fixd.

If you have multiple vehicles, the app will be able to monitor all of your vehicles at one time. Think of Fixd as your dashboard to your car’s problems. There’s no more guesswork involved. If you’ve ever experienced any of the following, you know how detrimental car problems can be to your sanity:

  • Random check engine lights
  • Fear that the check engine light is serious
  • Stalling, check engine light present, and hundreds spent on diagnosing the problem

Your car is sick and the only thing that your vehicle is trying to tell you is that something is wrong. Unless you can understand a random error code, which might change from car-to-car, you need some way to translate these codes.

This is what I aimed to achieve with Fixd.

Does Fixd Really Work?

Yes. I did this Fixd review and I can confirm it works. But it’s not an end-all solution. Don’t think you’ll completely cut your mechanic out of the equation with Fixd. I want to make something very clear and put an end to all of these rumors that you can do everything with Fixd.

Yes, mechanics have used Fixd, and I have tested it, too – it’s been amazing.

But Fixd is meant to help you make sense of those check engine lights that drive people crazy. Fixd cannot help if any of the following occurs:

  • TPMS light pops up
  • ABS light pops up

If you have any of these lights on, go to a mechanic and have your system diagnosed. Fixd is meant to read error codes that are sent to your vehicle’s OBD-II system, not detect any problem with your vehicle.

Whew, it’s a relief to get that off of my chest.

With that said, if you have realistic expectations, want to know what’s ailing your vehicle and what the check engine light is trying to tell you, Fixd surpasses anything on the market today. Fixd really works.

You’ll even be able to sleep better – seriously – knowing that your check engine light is off. If you ignore your check engine light , you’re asking for trouble.

How You Can Benefit from Fixd

Alright, alright I might be a slight fanboy here, but it’s all truthful. See, I am kind of on a crusade. I had a Thunderbird with some sort of problem, and I brought the vehicle to Ford, and it went through an expensive diagnostic system.

And guess what?

They needed to do another “advanced” diagnostic for a few hundred dollars more.

In the end, my vehicle was never fixed. They reset the check engine light, and eventually it came back on. That’s why I liked to do a really accurate Fixd review.

Fixd saves people from these costly mistakes. Repairpal (an awesome website) states that it costs $88 – $111  to diagnose a check engine light.

What?

It’s expensive.

Fixd does the same thing for a one-time free of just $59 (50% off the second model, and a buy 2, get 1 free option is also available). You just need to install the unit (it’s literally plug and play), install the app, and you’ll be in control of your check engine light.

The Fixd price is so affordable that it’s hard to pass it up. I’ve bought several Fixd devices for my friends and family. And all of my gearhead friends, many who are mechanics, have praised Fixd because it works so well.

A lot of media outlets have also talked about Fixd, including:

Fixd is really becoming popular, and it’s easy to see why – it allows you to finally “talk” to your automobile.

Fixd helped me:

  • Finally diagnose my own car for far less than I was charged at the dealer.
  • Go to a mechanic armed with some knowledge of the problem.
  • Make sense of all those check engine lights that always pop up at the worst time.

Hey, if you’re a little adventurous, you might even be able to fix the problem on your own, too. I had a check engine light come on for just a gas cap. The seal eroded over time, and the fix took minutes. I didn’t have to pay anyone for the fix.

If you’re frugal (I know I am), translating these error codes can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars over the lifetime of your vehicle.

When you choose to use Fixd, you’ll gain access to:

  • Engine light information and know what type of repair is needed.
  • Maintenance timeline that tells you when service is due.
  • Mileage detection that works to tell you of potential maintenance needs based on mileage.
  • Vehicle history that keeps an in-depth, running log of your vehicle’s history.
  • Continuous monitoring that alerts you when Fixd detects a problem.
  • Multi-vehicle control to properly monitor your vehicle’s needs.

And since you’ve tapped into your OBD-II port, you never need to charge Fixd. The port provides all of the power needed to run the device. And don’t worry, Fixd will continue to run using minimal resources to ensure that your vehicle’s battery isn’t drained in the process.

Are There Any Negatives?

Not really. Reading my Fixd review you will see that Fixd works as expected, but it does have limitations (remember from earlier in this Fixd review article). Aside from this, I would hope that the company fixes the issue with Fixd being out of stock so often.

Guarantee With Customer Service to Match

You might be picky. Your vehicle may be weird, or maybe there’s something wrong with your OBD-II system – I don’t know. If there is a problem, what I do know is that:

  • You’re covered by a 30-day money back guarantee.
  • Customer service is always ready and willing to help.

What can you do if Fixd doesn’t work? Contact customer service. Don’t waste time. Talk to customer service and ask for either a refund or to help you troubleshoot the unit.

Don’t settle for a broken product.

You work hard for your money, and customer service will acknowledge your hard work and help you correct the issue.

And the product is backed by a one-year warranty, so if something does go wrong with your unit, you’ll receive your money back. It’s really that simple.

The company has great customer service, and they will do everything they can to satisfy their customers. Believe me. I tested it before writing my Fixd review.

Shipping Costs

Shipping costs? What costs? Fixd ships for free, but when the product is on backorder, you can expect to wait 3 weeks before your device arrives. The neat thing is that Fixd is shipped from Atlanta, Georgia, so you can expect a fast shipping time if you’re anywhere on the East Coast.

What’s Included in the Fixd Package?

You’ll receive a basic instruction manual and the unit itself. There’s no need for plugs or any fancy equipment – you just plug the unit into your port. You will need to download the company’s official app, so you’ll need a smartphone that is powered by one of the following:

  • Android
  • iOS

If you have a device that is compatible with these mobile operating systems, you’ll be able to download the app and connect it to your Fixd device. Remember that this is a wireless sync, so it’s very fast with little action needed from the user.

Where Can You Get Fixed?

Fixd is an awesome product, and when I started my Fixd review and installed Fixd in my own car, I was shocked by how easy the entire process was. I was able to install the unit in minutes and get started with understanding what my vehicle was trying to tell me.

I know that a lot of places online are selling Fixd, but there’s a lot of up-selling and charging more for Fixd since it’s often backordered.

When I tested Fixd for myself, I thought for sure that there would be some kind of catch. I thought that maybe it wouldn’t pick up the proper check engine light codes from my Honda, but it did.

In fact, it picked up codes on several of my autos: Ford, Honda and Toyota.

I am confident that it will work with your vehicle, barring the few restrictions I mentioned in my Fixd review above.
